The region of Nová Bystřice (Novobystřicko) is on the border of Bohemia, Moravia and Lower Austria. There are a great number of forests, many ponds of different sizes, a rich and preserved natural environment and sparse population. Some may know it under the name of „Česká Kanada“ („Czech Canada“), a comparison received partly due to the harsh climate, particularly during the winter months.

This area, attractive from the tourist‘s point of view, offers great opportunities for a relaxing holiday in all seasons. There is a wide network of cycle paths. Those who prefer walking will enjoy the educational trails in the area, some of which connect to Austria. Lovers of swimming, angling, mushroom and forest berry picking will also find what they are looking for. In the winter time we have something to offer to the lovers of winter sports, including cross-country skiing trails around the town and a downhill skiing slope with the possibility of artificial snow in Hradiště. In the town you can use the sports hall and the newly built multipurpose sports ground with minigolf, fully automated 4-lane bowling, sports field and tennis courts. It is worth noting that there is also a public golf course and a unique technical monument – the 33km long narrow gauge railway from Nová Bystřice to Jindřichův Hradec.
Nová Bystřice and its surrounding region has many places offering accommodation – including hotels, bed & breakfast, private lodgings, campsites, chalets and cottages – and of course also a number of restaurants.
